Maker Lesson Plan: Storytelling with Circuits Stickers

During week two’s thrifting blog post, I introduced how I repurposed  the Chibi Tronics maker kit, Circuit Stickers, to review how summarize a story for sixth grade students with comprehension deficits. In the lesson, students created flip books summarizing the beginning, middle, and end of the book, “The Lotus Seed,” illuminating illustrations that accompany each major part of the story.

This week, I built off of my original instructional activity using the Chibi Tronics Circuit Stickers to provide literacy for a range of learners in my middle school literacy classroom. Using Dr. Stephen Yelon’s components of instructional design along with Common Core, Next Generation Science Standards, P21 framework, I’ve designed a writing lesson that can easily be adapted for K-8 classrooms. Check out my lesson and rationale here.

Happy Making,

Chrissy
